This is week 2 1/2 of my latest upgrade to a hydrogen hybrid. With the help of my father-in-law we have converted my Honda CRV to a Hydrogen hybrid. This has given me great results without having to purchase a small and uncomfortable hybrid car. A big factor in my decision- Gas prices, emissions and also I have a long commute and accumulate many miles a month. The beginning miles per gallon were 22 and now I am getting 28. Based on the studies and other users the MPG’s will increase and also the emissions will decrease enormously. Below is the place that does this magic- The Hybrid Conversion Place.
I can see Croatia’s charismatic national team manager Slaven Bilic smiling with glee as he reads the headlines after tonight’s games for the Champions league. Steven Gerrard will be out for 15 days after groin surgery. The following is from The Times Online,
Steven Gerrard has been one of the better players for the three lions even during the odd strategic decision in this past game against the Czechs. Fabio Capello is probably sighing and wishing it was David Beckham with the issue as this would solve the public relations headaches that have been brought upon themselves by appointing a now single style midfielder. I can agree with Bobby Robson when he says,
Fishing is one of the activities dear to my heart. I don’t do it as often as I wish, but I really enjoy the balance that I find in fishing. My short attention span goes out the window especially on those all night crappie expeditions with my father-in-law. You have to be alert for the slight tug on the line or you won’t reel in the slabs, You also have to stay awake or your son -in-law ends up manning the bending pole pulled by a hungry fish.
I found this article on the World Fishing Network WFN about fishing in Poland. It looks beautiful. The last time I went fly fishing was two years ago. My fly pole needs repair- know any one?
I haven’t been much into following the crowd or agreeing to the status quo or even going with the latest fad. Even though I prefer a Mac operational system, the iPhone has yet to attract my fancy. As my colleagues have found out- I even downgraded from a PDA/smartphoe to a basic flip phone. Not that this won’t change, but I just don’t buy into the hype- by the time I get them the prices have gone down on such products. Many people I meet are spit between the practical RIM Blackberry or the dazzling entertainment filled iPhone.
I just read an article talking about the capacity of phone providers”monitoring the applications used on its phones.” Some might be fearful, and understandably so, but as I type this post, there are cookies at work. And not the edible type…
My buddy Charles called me from one of his business trips to Dallas and was wondering how England had done against the Czech republic in one of the many World Cup preparatory friendlies. I had just seen highlights of the goals. The first came from Milan Baros goal while being manhandled by John Terry. Almost at the end of the first half Wes Brown evading his marker and with class heading home a David Beckham corner. The second half highlighted a Steven Gerrard playing out of position and Jermaine Defoe alone upfront probably thinking, ” I wish Peter was here…” Jankulovski after a sloppy foul outside the box clinically placed in the top corner as David James watched it go in. Actually, the Czech players covered the wall, we know as players that the ball will be coming through that area- James should have done better. Those big red jerseys were a warning sign. Joe Cole salvaged a loss in the last gasps of a test before playing Andorra on September the 6th.
In the Luzhniki stadium Robin Van Persie gave the dutch the lead only to have Konstantin Zurianov give the host Russia a draw.
Ecuador played Colombia in the Giants stadium- those American football lines would confuse me. Cristian Benitez scored on a missed penalty rebound for Ecuador. By the way, my wife predicted the missed penalty. Colombia passed well but has not really challenged a lukewarm play by the Ecuadoreans.
In the World Cup Qualifiers Haiti underestimated Suriname and were loosing 2-0 until the last two minutes of the game. Final score 2-2 in Port au Prince. Canada and Jamaica are tied at the moment after a goal by Andy Williams- I wonder if he was singing Moon River. Mexico was drawing 0-0 with Honduras at the Azteca. I wonder if Sven Goren Eriksson recording a show during half-time for I’m on Setanta Sports. Final score 2-1 Mexico, golazos by De Leon and Pardo. Later that night the USA overcame a determined Guatemala 1-0. Guatemala had many shots on goal but Tim Howard showed why he is starting for Everton. On another note- It was disappointing to see many of the Guatemalan players exaggerating injuries…
How does Sven do it? He is a great juggler. Managing Mexico and on TV keeping up with Jose Mourinho.
I’ve been craving a meat pie for the last two years, and my wife has heard me share that desire. She is widely known as a fantastic pie maker, especially her crust. This weekend I finally convinced her to make a beef pie out of a great pot roast we had the other day. The filling was a melt in your mouth pot-roasted brisket with new potatoes from the in-laws garden, some baby carrots, onions and lima beans. The gravy came from the brisket stock. I had no expectations, and let me tell you- my daughter and I devoured it. Here is a picture of the pie. I can actually see my grandmother Lola asking for a recipe for the crust- something she never did. For a crazy Monday of radio and television production fiascos this meat pie was culinary therapy. Next- I will need a good kidney pie recipe. Any suggestions?
The start of the English Premier season gave us quite a few goals. From artistic curlers by Mikel Arteta against a badly positioned Paul Robinson in a 2-3 loss to Blackburn, to an inaugural goal by Samir Nasri in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over West Brom.
The overly cautious draws were not present this time. The closest thing to that came at the Stadium of Light only to be overturned by a clinical shot by European champion Fernando Torres in a 1-0 Liverpool win over a well coached Sunderland. One of the games that I enjoyed watching as the Spurs loosing to Middlesbrough 2-1.
Gareth Southgate has been able to give Alfonso Alves, Tuncay and Jeremy Aliadiere a freedom that can potentially create many defensive headaches to opposing teams visiting the Riverside. I watched the game on Setanta, listened on Sirius channel 125 and chatted with the EPLTalk crew. Quite a trifecta of football.
To top it all off I made some fish-n-chips to go with a delicious tomato salad with cilantro that my wife prepared. The final touch were root beer floats using nothing but the best- Barqs root beer. Barqs root beer has a creamy flavor yet the wonderful bite of a quality root beer. My daughter enjoyed the float.
